The Pump Control Box
Written by JD Cattel, the President of Digital Control Company.
The term “pump control box” is one of the many euphemisms used to describe the device or devices which control the level in a municipal lift station or the downstream pressure in a liquid pumping system. This term, pump control box, has gained some popularity recently. But it may lead to some ambiguity.
A pump control box can be interpreted to be either the basic electronic controller itself (such as the Digital Control Company 11436 series) or the entire UL 508A motor control panel, which contains a DCC controller and the various breakers, motor starters, relays, Hands-Off-Auto, and so on. Nonetheless, DCC can provide either the controller or the entire panel according to the needs of the customer.
