SCADA Systems and Products

The DCC Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems and Products are primarily intended for use in both water and wastewater collection and distribution systems.  SCADA Systems provide users and municipalities with accurate level measurement information, remote pump control, system configuration, track and report lift station performance, system failure alarms notification, emergency level alarms notification, and other events as they occur.

The DCC SCADA System is an integrated solution consisting of a central base station (PC) with remote access capability for workstations and a network of Remote Terminal Units (RTU) for each station. The central base station can be connected to a local area network with Internet access which permits other computers to be added to the system as backup base stations or mobile workstations. A variety of Modbus® based wireless communication devices such as licensed and unlicensed radios, WI-FI, cellular, and satellite networks in addition to telephone lines can be used for communications between the central base station and the remotes sites.

SCADA Systems features include:

  • Early warning of emergency level alarms and system malfunctions via graphical interface (VTS SCADA), phone, pager, e-mail, and on-site alarm notifications.
  • Change or override control points for each individual station pump controller (on-site and remotely).
  • Remote data access.
  • Alarm and event manager.
  • Historical data logging and viewing.
  • Track and report lift station performance.
  • Track rainfall and give rainfall alarms.
  • Secure networking and system redundancy.
  • HMI – VTS SCADA system integration.

Remote Terminal Units (RTU)

The DCC RTUs are data collection devices designed for monitoring and control of remote stations. They are primarily intended for use in both water and wastewater collection and distribution SCADA systems. The DCC RTU also performs the function of a backup pump controller by using two float switches in the event of primary equipment failure that may cause emergency levels to occur. During normal operation the RTU collects data and sends it to a central monitoring station using a variety of Modbus® ASCII based communication devices such as telephone modems or radios. This allows the user to remotely control and configure the RTU from a base station or a workstation. There are two serial ports available on the RTU. One is dedicated for communications while the other can be used to either communicate with a variety of DCC pump controllers or RTUs to provide easy expansion of the remote station.

Features include:

  • Controls up to 4 pumps if primary controller fails.
  • Built-in time delay between pump starts during backup mode.
  • Float switch controller backup mode reset switch.
  • Pumps running, phase monitor, intrusion alert, power generator transfer switch, station in service, power failure, and floats inputs.
  • Pumps, floats, and alarms status indicators on front panel.
  • 12 VDC input power operation allows unit to maintain its alarm system during power outages by using battery power.
  • 2 RS-232 serial ports – one for SCADA communications and the other to communicate with DCC pump controllers and RTUs.
  • Rain gage input for optional tipping spoon type rain collector.
  • Proven software that allows for easy setup and reliability.

Large Control Room HD HMI Monitors

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems are utilized by industrial and utility industries for process monitor and control. These systems demand timely and accurate processing of information from multiple sources to make informed decisions on critical issues. DCC has partnered with Gigalife™ to provide enhanced visualization of distributed Human Machine Interface (HMI) data and topological views of equipment location. These tools incorporate the information displayed on each individual operator monitor onto large High Definition (HD) wall displays. Large displays provide an efficient way to present collected information and create situational awareness among operators.

Features include:

  • Easy to use.  Seamless integration to any standard PC monitor connection.  Just plug and play.
  • Modular design – complete solutions or individual components available to suit your needs.
  • HD screen available in 8 ft. or 10 ft. diagonal size.
  • Screen fabric is light-blocking minimizing interference from background sources.
  • Electric-motorized for ease of storage.
  • HD Sharp® projector.
  • Logitech® Surround Sound System.
